Rag quilt take two

I just loved doing my first rag quilt.  So when I got an invitation to a baby shower, I knew just what I wanted to do.  :)  I think I like this one even better.  I love these fabrics!   (Thankfully "Mom" was just as thrilled with them as I was.)

I did the back with Minky on this one too.  I love the way the pink shows through on the front too. I am sure you will see more than just one or two more in the future.  I think I may be addicted.

Getting girly with Rag Quilts.

I have been dreaming of quilting, but I am more than a little intimidated.  So when I found a video on you tube with instructions for making  a rag quilt I was thrilled.  It didn't sound too horrible so I gave it a whirl.  I keep an almost two year old girl who I live vicariously through.   As Mom of three boys it is too much fun to play with a little girl.  So we had to make a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to pick out fabrics.  Here is the finished product.

We even chose black minke for the backing.  I love how soft it is!

I think she likes it.  She climbed right under it with her best buddy Mickey Mouse.

Just one more picture because she is just sooooo cute.  :)

Birthday Goodies

Today is my 16th birthday again. ;)
We won't talk about how many times I have celebrated 16, but ya' know it's more than 2 or 3 times. Anyway, my mother in law who is crazy kinds of talented offered to make curtains for my kitchen . I was very excited and I spent just tons of time looking for just the right fabric. I fell in love with the Gypsy Bandanna fabric collection. I chose my favorite for my curtains. They turned out just awesome.

Don't you just love the fabric I know I do!!!!!!
She then suggested making a table runner and wall hanging to match and who am I to argue so we picked a few more fabrics from the collection and here is what she came up with. I absolutely adore it.

The banner absolutely ROCKS, but the hanger I have didn't quite match. hmmm I can fix that right? :)

Sorry about the poor quality of this picture it was all I had of the before hanger. Christmas red certainly wouldn't do. :/ So I grabbed my handy dandy spray paint, and...

Black is soooooo much better. ":)

Dont' you think it matches better??? I know I sure do. It is so lovely. Hmm I think I need a new wall color now. I am sure my darling hubby wouldn't mind repainting half the house to match right? After all it is to match the stuff his Mom made for me. ;)

Of Course there were some scraps, and so my mother in law whipped up a few bonus items:

like potholders...

and some beautiful towels. I am a lucky girl. :)

A longhorn Locker Room for my Moose

After redoing Holden's bedroom I decided we needed to do his bathroom too. My husband always love when that happens. :) I am pretty pleased with how it turned out.
First the door-

Then we needed a new sink. This tiny bathroom had a HUGE vanity so we opted for a pedestal sink.

Of course since it is "Moose's Locker Room" we had to add some football touches. :) I had this old helmet I bought at a garage sale for $3.00. It was blue and red, but with some spray paint and a little vinyl I think it turned out AWESOME!!!! Yes I am pretty pleased with myself, but nothing compared to Holden who now thinks I can move mountains. LOL

The final touch was a "locker". My hubby and I put our heads together and he got out all his magic tools and this is what we came up with. I of course supplied the paint and vinyl. ;)

The final touch was some encouraging words from a coach. Our high school football team
(love those Permian Panthers) have these 16 Steps of a Champion on the way into their locker room. I loved them and thought they needed to be included in our locker room too.

Never underestimate your opponent.
Work on your weaknesses until they become your strong points.
Remember that a great effort is usually the result of a great attitude.
Dedicate yourself to a mighty purpose.
Win with humility; lose with grace.
Ignore those who discourage you.
Work to improve your moral and spiritual strengths as well as your physical ones.
Remember that how you conduct yourself off the field is just as important as how you conduct yourself on the field.
Talent is God-given — be humble. Fame is man-given — be thankful. Conceit is self-given — be careful.
Don’t ask to be deprived of tension and discipline — these are the tools that shape success.
Do what has to be done, when it has to be done, as well as it can be done.
Remember when you’re not working to improve, your competition is.
ALWAYS GIVE YOUR BEST.
PRACTICE LIKE A CHAMPION!
PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION!
LIVE LIKE A CHAMPION!

I loved how it all turned out, and Holden was just thrilled. So this is a home makeover success. :)

Last day of school

Woo Hoo!!!! We made it. The last morning we had to get up early for school!!!! I am so ready to sleep in. The boys were in a great mood this morning. I sent them out the door with homemade goodies, movies, and teacher gifts. I just thought my crafty friends might like to check them out.

I etched mugs for each teacher with their last name. (Wow there are a LOT of letters in those five names) Then I added tissue paper and filled each mug with candy. The tissue paper was hopefully to help keep my kids from being harassed about sharing the candy for their teachers. LOL
If you are wanting a closer look here you go. This one is for Mr. Hernandez. :)
