A gift for my Mother in Law

With Mother's day right around the corner I wanted to share a quick and fun project that my Mother in law loves. I bought a clock at Hobby Lobby that you can personalize.

Then I added pictures of my sweet boys. It is simple you just pop out each spot and insert the pictures. I also cut squares of scrapbook paper and added large alphabet stickers to create a message. You can be as creative as you want. :)

A cover for my Cricut

West Texas is in my blood there is no where else I want to live, BUT spring in West TX is just your basic dust bowl. This year has been much worse than ever before, so when I cleaned yet another layer of dirt off my machine, I decided a cover was in order.
I googled dust cover for cricut and found this free pattern complete with video. I was thrilled to find such an easy project even though I am just a beginer at sewing. Here is the link:

Custom Crops also happens to be one of my favorite shops to find great cricut deals. If you haven't checked them out you should!

Here are two of the covers I made:

Lighting fixture

I ordered a light fixture for the boys room off of EBAY and couldn't have been more excited... well, until it arrived. It was MUCH smaller that I expected. I loved it, but wasn't so sure how well it would work. My suspicions were confirmed whey my hubby took down the ceiling fan and the hole in the ceiling was larger than the fixture. HMMMMM Well, he told me not to worry he could take care of the extra space.

He did manage to cover most of the hole, but I still had the problem of the silver and crack showing around the edge of the fixture. Vinyl to the rescue. I found a cute sprocket like shape to cut in various sizes and colors.

So after giving my cricut a quick workout, I had a cute solution that I loved almost as much as my boys did. :)

I had a few sprockets left over and decided to decorate the light switch too. :)

It was FrAmEd!

I am working on redoing my boys room. It is FINALLY time to redecorate Mikey and Sam's room. They are very excited and when I asked them what theme they wanted to go with they both answered Science. HMMMMM... I suggested doing a space theme, but they were quick to inform me Science was more than space. Then I am sure you could hear crickets chirp. What on Earth do you do with that!?!?

Well, fast forward a few months and I finally have a direction KINDA. It will still have an awful lot of space stuff, but I have come up with some other aspects of science to include.

Ok now that I said all that, here is the first of several projects that went along with that. I have lots of cool posters to frame. I really didn't want to spend a small fortune on frames, but I do want them to stay on the wall without constantly falling. A friend suggested using small trim molding to make my own "frames" I thought this sounded like a pretty good plan. I was at the local craft store and came across these balsa wood pieces. I thought they would work perfectly. So I painted them black and nailed them to the wall. I think it turned out pretty good.

P.S. I got this awesome picture of the swamp from my brother in laws photo site. You can order one too if you love it.

An old favorite with a new look.

I made an Easter wreath more years ago than I like to think about. I just loved it! The second year I put it out a bird also decided it was pretty neat too because she built her nest in it. Then she laid and watched over three eggs. I could not have been more excited. I was at the time pregnant with my first child. Yes, I know he is 12 now, but that is a minor detail. I left it up forever. I think it was time for halloween before I took it down, but oh I enjoyed having baby birds grow up in my Easter wreath. I guess I put it out each year since hoping that the phenomenon might repeat, but alas I now have three busy boys so no luck! hahaha I guess the birds are much smarter than that.

Well, I love that wreath much more than I should so I just haven't been able to part with it. I can't think of many other holiday decorations who have hung around so long. This year I couldn't bear to put it out again. It looks horrible! I also couldn't throw it away. Soooooo... I decided it needed a makeover. I just love the results. What do you think?
