Skirts for my valentines

I made some quick and easy skirts for the little girls I babysit, and just had to share.  Since I am just learning to sew don't look too closely.  LOL  These were super easy because they are simply t-shirts cut off to make skirts. 
I took two Hobby Lobby t-shirts that were about two sizes too large, and simply cut them off under the arms.  This is awesome because it gives you a perfect bottom seam to start with.  Then you just size it to your kiddo.  Leave a little extra length for the waistband.  I left about 1in because my elastic was pretty thin.  Then I embellished them with some Rick-rack and cut out felt letters.  It was a quick project.  I finished them both in just a couple of hours even with sewing the letters by hand. 

I can't wait to see how adorable they look on Valentine's day.  What are you making for your valentine?

Rag quilt take two

I just loved doing my first rag quilt.  So when I got an invitation to a baby shower, I knew just what I wanted to do.  :)  I think I like this one even better.  I love these fabrics!   (Thankfully "Mom" was just as thrilled with them as I was.)

I did the back with Minky on this one too.  I love the way the pink shows through on the front too. I am sure you will see more than just one or two more in the future.  I think I may be addicted.

Getting girly with Rag Quilts.

I have been dreaming of quilting, but I am more than a little intimidated.  So when I found a video on you tube with instructions for making  a rag quilt I was thrilled.  It didn't sound too horrible so I gave it a whirl.  I keep an almost two year old girl who I live vicariously through.   As Mom of three boys it is too much fun to play with a little girl.  So we had to make a quick trip to Hobby Lobby to pick out fabrics.  Here is the finished product.

We even chose black minke for the backing.  I love how soft it is!

I think she likes it.  She climbed right under it with her best buddy Mickey Mouse.

Stand back I am sewing pajamas! ;)

I am very new to sewing, but I am pretty sure I am addicted to sewing. I have a serious issue. I have spent hours and hours looking at fabric stores on the Internet. Anywhoooo I was drooling over some fantastic fabric when I came across some Dr. Seuss fabric. I have an eight year old who ADORES Dr. Seuss. His name is Sam and I think he believes he is the character in Green Eggs and Ham. I am absolutely sure I can recite that book in my sleep.
So of course that had to be some fabric I owned, well, or that Sam did. I ordered some and found a great simplicity pattern for pajama pants. Sam just neeeeeeded them don't you think?

I am pretty sure Dr. Seuss' Sam isn't such a Ham. I was trying to get him to show the detail on his pocket. I don't think he minded too much. LOL




P.S. I decided he needed a matching cover for the strap on his sling. Since he is a boy, his sling strap was stained about immediately. Gotta love living in a house full of BOYS. :)

A cover for my Cricut

West Texas is in my blood there is no where else I want to live, BUT spring in West TX is just your basic dust bowl. This year has been much worse than ever before, so when I cleaned yet another layer of dirt off my machine, I decided a cover was in order.
I googled dust cover for cricut and found this free pattern complete with video. I was thrilled to find such an easy project even though I am just a beginer at sewing. Here is the link:
